Leith Week of Action
Leith Week of Action - 13 to 18 October 2008
The Services for Communities Neighbourhood Research identified that the following priorities were important to residents in the Leith Neighbourhood Partnership area.
• improve street cleaning / cleaning of public spaces
• action against ASB issues
• more activities for children/ youths.
• action against dog fouling.
As a response to this the area at the bottom of Leith Walk, including the Kirkgate Centre, Great Junction Street and stretching up to Commercial Street and as far as Constitution Street has been selected for a Week of Action. This means that partners will concentrate their services in this area for the week from 13 to 18 October. This will include the following:
• road checks
• tackling litter and graffiti
• tackling anti-social behaviour.
• food safety checks
• Advice on how to start up a residents' association.
• dog-fouling initiative
• new multi-sports pitch planned for Henderson Street
• And much more!
Community Fair - Saturday 18th October 2008
• Stalls and entertainments at the Kirkgate Shopping Centre from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm
• Portable football pitch at Linksview House
• Mobile Library (venue to be advised)
