Moredun Libraries 4 Youth

“Fantastic”, “brilliant” and “there is something for everyone” are just some of the comments from adults, children and young people, after the newly re-furbished Moredun Library re-opened in April.
There are new separate computer and seating area for adults, a play area for under-fives as well as new books, DVDs, Playstation and Wii games in the modern Libraries4Youth zone.
By making space for young people to read and relax in their own “Teen Zone” and continuing prog
ramme of activities and events, including reading challenges such as Books4U and Euro 2008 Read the Game challenges, we have seen an increase in visits and borrowing of library items, improvement in young people’s behaviour and a positive response from the local community.
The ongoing programme of summer events, in partnership with Community Safety Concierges, Craigour Primary School and Moredun Good Trees Community Centre includes Team Read reading challenge, a series of sports activities, competitions, quizzes, video project, quizzes and storytimes.
