CLIMATE CHALLENGE FUND

Funding for community action on carbon emissions
The Climate Challenge Fund has £18.8million available over three years (2008-11) for carbon-reduction projects in Scotland. Grants of up to £1million are available to help community organisations plan, learn, communicate and most importantly, take action to reduce carbon emissions.
The Council recognises that community-led initiatives are essential in tackling the everyday causes of climate change and wants to encourage and support local communities across the city to take action to cut their carbon emissions. Projects could involve using less energy, walking and cycling more, using more local and sustainable food supplies, etc. Projects should also be delivered in such a way that they help people to develop new skills, improve health, work together or provide better community facilities, and carbon reduction must be at the heart of every proposal.
More details of the fund and application packs are available via the website at http://www.infoscotland.com/ourfuture/61.html or from Keep Scotland Beautiful on 01786 471333 or email ccf@ksbscotland.org.uk
