Volunteers wanted - cycle path clean-up

Volunteers are wanted for a big community clean up of cycle paths on Saturday 28th March. The event, being organised by Sustrans volunteers, will pick up litter along the cycle path between Roseburn and Leith.

In Inverleith, it will include the path that goes between Craigleith (near Sainsburys) and Davidson's Mains. James Hatfield, a local Sustrans Volunteer Liaison Ranger, says “this is a great opportunity to get involved and it will be great to hear from individuals or groups who can lend a hand in cleaning up this section of the cycle network.”

Those interested should meet at 9am, Sunday 28 March, at Bangholm Outdoor Centre, Craighall Gardens, EH6 4RH. Refreshments will be provided at 1pm.  You can download the poster here for more details

Environment Manager Steven Cuthill from the Council's North Neighbourhood Office, who will be supporting the event, says “we are delighted to offer help with collecting and disposing of all the waste the volunteers bag up. We really value the input from community volunteers– we work hard to keep the local environment as clean as possible, and this kind of grass roots assistance goes a long way to helping us achieve that.”

It is important to keep cycle routes clear of litter, especially as it is not possible to place bins all along a route, but rather at entrances and exits, where they can be accessed for emptying.
