Taster sessions for pupils at Firrhill High School?s Lifestyle Fair

24th September 2008

Prospective pupils of Firrhill High School were invited to attend a Lifestyle Fair at the school where they enjoyed demonstrations, taster sessions and displays from over 40 community clubs and groups.

P4-P7 pupils from the cluster primaries Bonaly, Colinton, Pentland, Longstone and Oxgangs and all pupils at Firrhill were given the opportunity to try out local community activities in the school?s state of the art sports facilities.

Many clubs were represented including Pentland Community Centre, Scouts, Girl Guides, Edinburgh Leisure, Tesco, Air Training Corps, Crafts and many more.

Demonstrations were given by Destination Judo and Angela Watson?s Dance School. Swanston Golf, Colinton Bowling Club and Firrhill Hockey Club offered ?have a go? sessions where pupils and parents could test their swing, their bowling arms or their hockey aim!

The event was well received by the 300+ pupils and parents who attended. The school intends to build on the success of the day by making the Lifestyle Fair a regular event, with the next Fair scheduled for summer 2009.
