Fairmilehead CC stretches from the southern limits of the Braid
Hills in the north to the boundary between Edinburgh and Midlothian
along the Pentland Hills in the south and from the western boundary
of Mortonhall Estate in the east to Dreghorn Link in the west.
The area has a bistory extending back many hundreds of years and
formerly comprised a lot of separate villages or hamlets on the
periphery of Edinburgh.
The Council area forms part of the Edinburgh South Constituency
of the Westminster and Edinburgh Pentlands Constituency of the
Scottish Parliament. It also comprises the Local Ward of
Colinton/Fairmilehead.
The Community Council represents all shades of opinion in the
area and all our meetings are open to the public. Anybody
resident or working in the area is free to raise any matter with
us.
Some recent examples have been the protection of the green belt,
saving Oxgangs Post Office, objecting to a large scale hotel
development in Midlothian but which adjoins our boundary, obtaining
funding for the local youth project and club.
