The Edinburgh Old Town Community Council (OTCC) is a voluntary
group of people who are interested in the well-being of their
community. They actively ask the community for their views about
issues that affect their neighbourhood. They then make these views
known to the City of Edinburgh Council (CEC) and other public
bodies. Information is also sought from these public bodies to
share with the community.
The people who volunteer to become members of the community
council are elected by the community, but only if there is a
sufficient number of interested people to warrant an election.
There are twelve elected positions for the Old Town Community
Council and six nominated from local interest groups.
Elected volunteers serve for three years.
The Officer Bearers are elected every year at our Annual General
Meeting, usually in May.
The main localities of Edinburgh which are part of the Old Town
Community Council are: The Grassmarket, Johnston Terrace, Holyrood,
Canongate, Princes Street Gardens and Abbeyhill.
