21st Century Homes - Pennywell Muirhouse
As part of the 21st Century Council Homes for Edinburgh
Programme, Development Groups have been set up in Pennywell and
Muirhouse, Gracemount and North Sighthill. The redevelopment of
these areas will contribute towards Edinburgh delivering 12,000 new
affordable homes over the next ten years.
Led by the regeneration teams from the City of Edinburgh Council,
each development group has local residents as well as
representatives from other local stakeholders and has been heavily
involved in guiding the development of the masterplan for their
area.
The masterplan for the North and South areas of Pennywell and
Muirhouse was submitted to Planning on 11 May. Development
Group meetings stopped at this point to allow the plans to go
through the Planning process, and Planning Permission in Principle
was given by the Council's Development Management Sub-committee on
8 September. The group will be invited to meet again during the
next stages: detailed designs for the homes, and the masterplanning
exercise to be carried out for the central area around the shopping
centre.
