Explore Edinburgh on Foot or by Bike

The Council is encouraging more people to try cycling or walking to work, college or university.By Foot or Bike Logo.jpg

To help you make a positive change in your daily commute, we're continuing to improve Edinburgh's network of QuietRoutes.

These are designed for walkers and cyclists of all abilities and are a great way to travel around the city avoiding the busy main roads.

Aside from the obvious health benefits, walking or cycling to work or study is a great way to start your day or even de-stress at the end of the week.  You will see more of our beautiful city on these convenient routes - so enjoy exploring Edinburgh!

You can find out more about each QuietRoute on the Council's website, including route numbers and maps you can download. Also you can find out about guided walks, cycle training and other things.

One of Liberton Gilmerton's local routes is QuietRoute 61- Gilmerton to Loanhead and Roslin (for Rosslyn Chapel)

This route is perfect for a day out exploring. On your way to Roslin, you can visit the Straiton Pond Nature Reserve and also Loanhead.  It's a beautiful view at Bilston Glen Viaduct.
