Local Plan
LOCAL PLAN ? Updated 24 November 2008
The Leith Community Plan and Action Plan are currently being drafted. The Plan takes into account views collated from the Community Engagement Event in June 2007 and various local survey results and reports. Please click here for a list of draft outcomes.
Local Priorities have been identified as:
· More Affordable Housing
· A cleaner more attractive environment.
· Improve Community Safety.
· Facilities for children and young people.
· Improve the health and wellbeing of the community.
These relate to the following National Outcomes:
· We live in well-designed sustainable places where we are able to access the amenities and services we need.
· We value our built and natural environment and protect it and enhance it for future generations.
· We live our lives safe from crime, disorder and danger.
· Our young people are successful learners, confident individuals, effective contributors and responsible citizens.
· We live longer, healthier lives.
The neighbourhood outcomes identified are as follows:
· Increase the supply of affordable housing.
· Improve the cleanliness, appearance and ease of use of public spaces.
· Improve satisfaction with community safety.
· Create an environment where young people are valued and seen as an asset within the community.
· Create effective support for families.
· Fewer people smoke, use drugs and misuse alcohol.
· More families provide a caring and nurturing environment and can access the services they need to ensure the health and wellbeing of their children.
An opportunity will be given to discuss and give feedback on the Leith Community Plan at the Leith Neighbourhood Partnership meeting on 3 December 2008 at 4.30 pm at the Acorn Centre, Junction Place.
