Organisational Aim
The purpose of Lothian and Borders Police along with its strategic partners is to:
- prevent crime,
- keep the peace,
- protect and reassure the community,
- uphold the law firmly and fairly, and
- pursue and identify those who break the law.
Current Priorities
The current priorities for the City of Edinburgh “A” Division are
- Public Protection - To deliver safer communities through effective partnerships to tackle the causes of crime.
- Drugs - Enhanced intelligence gathering resulting in focused proactive enforcement operations. And in conjunction with our strategic partners the promoting of intervention strategies and health and diversion activities.
- Violence - Identify and analysis levels of criminality and problematic behaviour, thereafter targeting hotspot areas in a proactive manner and providing positive reassurance.
- National Security - The continual development of intelligence relating to terrorist networks, in conjunction with the developing of and the maintaining of links within the local community whereupon public reassurance is provided
- Antisocial Behaviour - Reduce the incidences of antisocial behaviour in communities and through partnership working promote positive social behaviour
How Lothain & Borders Police delivers services
As an organisation we operate across the City of Edinburgh, delivering a 24 hour response service jointly with our strategic partners.
Decision Making Arrangements
Operational decisions are decided and delivered through the 6 Neighbourhood Tasking and Coordinating meetings, which give clear instructions and direction to both the police and strategic partners. This arrangement also take cognisance of the issues raised at the each of the 12 Neighbourhood Partnership meetings.
