More About Us
Neighbourhood Partnerships are a new way for organisations to work together with local people to improve public services and quality of life. They are a key part of the governance arrangements for local public services, enabling the Council and other service providers to focus their resources on the priorities that matter to communities.
The partners involved are the City of Edinburgh Council (Services for Communities and Children & Families), Community Councils, Lothian and Borders Police, Forth Ports PLC, Housing Associations, Voluntary Organisations, Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service and the North East Edinburgh Local Health Partnership.
The Partnership covers the Leith and Leith Walk Council Wards and the area is situated on Edinburgh's shore.
Leith Neighbourhood Partnership met in public for the first time in September 2007. Meetings are held in public every 3 months. Anyone living or working within Leith is invited to come along. The Partnership also holds regular business meetings to progress the work of the Partnership.
The Leith Neighbourhood Partnership put listening to local people at the heart of their work. Community Councillors represent local people as full members of the Leith Neighbourhood Partnership. Also, in June 2007 around 70 delegates, including community representatives, community councillors, voluntary organisations and elected members, got together at Leith Community Education Centre to begin the process of drawing up the Leith Community Plan. This will set out what the Partnership has to do to deal with local problems and issues, plan the future of the neighbourhood and ensure that local people can shape and influence local decisions. The delegates met in workshops which concentrated on particular topics, which were Housing and the Built Environment, Health and Wellbeing, Financial Inclusion and Employment Opportunities, Children & Families and Community Engagement. There was also an open session to catch anything the workshop topics may miss. The Leith Neighbourhood Partnership will be using all of the information gathered as the Community Plan for Leith is developed over the next few months.
There are four thematic Action Groups which support the Leith Neighbourhood Partnership in their work. They are as follows:

- Housing and the Built Environment Action Group
- Children and Families Action Group
- Health and Wellbeing Action Group
- Financial Inclusion and Employment Opportunities Action Group
