Funding for City Centre Neighbourhood Partnership

28 August 2015

The City Centre Neighbourhood Partnership has recently been awarded Smarter Choices, Smarter Places funding for behaviour change projects which encourage people to walk more.

This fits with the priorities for the Local Community Plan 2014-17, and in particular:

Making it easier to get around the city centre

  • Help people influence decisions about moving around
  • Promote opportunities to walk and cycle

Supporting the city centre economy

  • Encourage people to visit and shop in all areas of the city centre

The project is being led by Sustrans, and members of the Moving Around Action Group will also be involved in trying different innovative approaches, focusing on behaviour change and how we can excite, enthuse, encourage and tempt more people to walk around the city centre.

The outcomes also include establishing an informal creative network around placemaking and active travel and developing prototype projects to gather evidence from them.
