Ryan Van Wynkle led four very lively and inspiring poetry workshops at Oxgangs Library with children from local primary schools on Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th October. Over 100 people attended, Ryan managed to get some of the adult helpers involved and introduced the children to one word poems, list poems and mind maps. A competition for the best poem will be made into posters and displayed in the library and throughout the community.
This initiative linked in with National Poetry Day: Supported by Scottish Poetry Library, Firrhill Community Council and the Pentlands Neighbourhood Partnership. It helped to encourage primary school children to develop reading skills and literacy through poetry.
