BIG CLEAN-UP 2009
Due to the weather this event has now been cancelled
Last year, the BIG CLEAN-UP of Queensferry was a huge success. Over 540 people took part, we targeted and cleaned up 19 areas, publicised the event widely, and even made it on to the Scottish news that night at 6pm.
People enjoyed it so much that they asked us to do it all over again next year. Well, we will -- only this time we would like even more people!
The suggested date for next year is: 13 February 2009
Chief organisers are Iain Jamieson (Community Police) Iwan Thomas (Park Ranger) and Joyce Faulkner of CleanFerry (aka GreenFerry).
Together, we are inviting local organisations, businesses, schools, nurseries, church groups, council workers, and, well, everyone, to sign up to this event.
The planning meeting is on 21 November 2008 at 1.30pm at in the Conival Room at Agilent Technologies. We hope you will send someone along.
At the meeting, we will work out the areas of Queensferry need to be cleaned, and appoint a leader/leaders for each one. GreenFerry will supply equipment.
As with last year, we are aiming for massive publicity. We will send out press releases, and direct the media/photographer(s) round the various locations on the day, so you can advertise your group, school, business or organisation.
All we ask now, is that you send someone along to the planning meeting and then, at a later date, rustle up a small team for the day -- staff members, school groups, members of your organisation. Even half an hour will make a difference.
This event helps us raise awareness of litter in a very positive way, and it generates a lot of goodwill. Thank you in advance if you can offer support.
