£eith decides - decision day
1.00 pm Saturday 27 November 2010, at Leith Academy (doors open at noon).
The £eith decides pilot is giving the decision making power on how public money is spent to local stakeholders. Up to £16,600 of Community Grants Funding from Leith Neighbourhood Partnership is to be allocated on the day. There is a choice of 29 projects which can be carried out in Leith, with a total value of £25,237. Project funding requests range from £400 to £1,000.
Its important local people have their say as funds are limited and not all projects can be supported. Local kent faces The Proclaimers said "…we are sure the Leithers will be astute judges."
The £eith decides pilot
Anyone who lives or works in Leith is invited to the decision making event to make the decision on which projects are to be funded. Project applicants will give a short presentation and the Leith people will then score each of them out of 5. The projects which score the highest marks will be given a community grant to carry out the project.
The event will be held on Saturday, 27 November 2010 at Leith Academy School, 20 Academy Park. Doors open at noon for a 1.00 pm start. Children are welcome to take part if accompanied by an adult.

History
The pilot takes its inspiration from the Participatory Budgeting model which was developed in Brazil in the eighties. For more information go to http://www.participatorybudgeting.org.uk/about/history-of-participatory-budgeting.
£eith decides is recognised worldwide.
£eith decides will be taking part in international research on the participatory budgeting approach worldwide. This is being carried out by the University of Alicante, Spain.
