What is the Fairer Scotland Fund?
The Fairer Scotland Fund (FSF) was a Scottish Government fund to tackle poverty and deprivation up to 2010-11. The Edinburgh Partnership has been responsible for the strategic investment of the fund in the city. The Partnership's three year FSF investment strategy is part of the Single Outcome Agreement, delivering against three of the 15 national outcomes:
- we realise our full economic potential with more and better employment opportunities for people
- we live longer, healthier lives
- we have improved our life chances for young people and families at risk
Beyond the Fairer Scotland Fund
The FSF programme ends in March 2011 and no other funding programme will replace it. The Edinburgh Partnership and the Council take anti-poverty work seriously and will continue to address it in the best way possible. The report Beyond a Fairer Scotland Fund explains how the Partnership and the Council will take forward the priorities of:
- Early intervention
- Improving employability
- Reducing health inequalities
We are looking at which activities and services should move to mainstream funding and continue to be supported in the light of the 12% cuts the Council must make over the next three years. These changes will present further opportunity for Neighbourhood Partnership to have a key role in identifying local need and monitoring the delivery and performance of anti-poverty services.
