South Queensferry Dementia Friendly Initiative
MAKING SOUTH QUEENSFERRY A DEMENTIA FRIENDLY COMMUNITY
The Almond Neighbourhood Partnership is a key partner in the recently established - South Queensferry Dementia Friendly Initiative. A working group of interested individuals and organisations has been established and a programme of initiatives is being developed to improve the quality of life for people living with dementia and their carers.
Activies to date include:
- Production and publication of a 'Dementia Friendly Queensferry' leaflet.
- Information points and displays at South Queensferry Library and the local Health Centre during 'Dementia Awareness Week' [1/6 June]
- Promotion and distribution of the new leaflet at the Abseiling event on 7 June.
- Information table at the weekly market on Queensferry High St. [26 July]
The next steps planned by the working group are a series of education/training sessions on 'dementia awareness' for local commercial premises and a specific initiative combating the 'stigma image' associated with dementia.
