This group is a sub group of the Neighbourhood Partnership and focuses on all community safety issues. This group is made up of staff from Services for Communities, Children& Families, Fire & Rescue and the Police. The Community Safety  Sub group acts as a mechanism for the community to feed in concerns and information related to community safety. It will also acts as the monitoring group for the community safety activities contained in the Local Community Plan.

The current priorities set 4th March by this group are:

Ward 2

  • Youth issues in the ward. As Spring/Summer approach, historically youth calls increase.  During the same period in 2012 there were 47 calls.

  • Thefts and acquisitive crime in the ward.  Still continuing although at a reduced rate to previous quarters. More scope for visible deterrent patrols and education of householders.

  • Ongoing problem with dog fouling in Ward 2

Ward 8

  • Anti-social behaviour - this priority will feature as part of Cipher 3 and will concentrate on all issues relating to ASB on the run up and lead down from the main operation.

  • Thefts and acquisitive crime - historically this type of crime increases at this time of the year as garden huts are opened and forgotten to be secured or property is left outside.

  • Ongoing problem with dog fouling in ward 8
