21 Century Homes - North Sighthill
North Sighthill Demolition
The homes at North Sighthill have now been demolished.
Planning Permission
The current Planning Permission in Principle
consent for the North Sighthill development expires on 11
August 2013. The consent was based on a masterplan prepared
for the Council by architects Broadway Malyan in 2009/10.
The Council submitted a renewal application to ensure the
consent remains live. The application is for renewal and no
changes are proposed to the existing planning permission
consent. This is a technical process to ensure continuity and
facilitate the redevelopment of North Sighthill.
North Sighthill tower blocks down with a bang
Schoolboy Lewis Reynolds joined Councillor Norman Work, and
former residents, Maureen and William Murdoch, in demolishing the
three multi-storey blocks at North Sighthill.
Footage of the demolition is available to view now on the
Council's own You Tube
channel
The nine-year-old won the right to push the plunger having
designed the winning safety poster in a primary school's
competition.
Regeneration Plans
The redevelopment of the area will see up to 320 new homes built
as part of a new mixed tenure community comprising 50% affordable
housing (30% council homes for rent, 10% mid rent and 10% low cost
homes ownership) with the remainder for private sale.
Architects appointed for North Sighthill
City based architects firm Anderson Bell and Christie have been
appointed to provide the designs for the North Sighthill
development project.
