About Us
Liberton Gilmerton is is situated on the southern edge of
Edinburgh, combining both urban and relatively rural areas. It
comprises a number of smaller and quite distinct communities,
each with a strong local identity. These include - Liberton,
Gilmerton, Inch, Gracemount, Moredun and Southhouse/Burdiehouse.
Around 33,000 people live in this area.
Key Landmarks
Key landmarks in the area include the Cameron Toll shopping
centre and the New Royal Infirmary. A number of historic links
exist in the area including the Gilmerton Cove, The Balmwell and
Old Bordeaux linked with Mary, Queen of Scots. The southern edge of
the neighbourhood is bounded by the City of Edinburgh Bypass
providing easy access to all parts of the city and to the
south.
