What's happening and how does it work?

We are holding a marketstall event in the main Hall of the Methodist Church Hall, Nicolson Square on Saturday, 30th April and as a resident of South Central you are invited.  This is a a lovely venue and it should be a good fun day.  Bring yourself and your friends and family.  The more people who turn out, the better it will be.

As has been said we have three pots of money and local people are being asked how this will be spent.

We will set up the hall into three zones - Community Grants, Roads and Housing Revenue Account environmental improvement zones

Community Grants Zone  - if your group is applying for funding then your application will appear on this website in advance of the event so the public can read them.   In addition; as applicants you are expected to take a table on the day so that you can talk to the public as they walk aound before the score your project. This is a win win situation for you - reports from groups who have attended similar event across the city say it was a great opportunity to raise the profile of their project; network; get more members and/or volunteers.

Housing Revenue Account Zone  This pot of money can only be spent on Council land in and around Council homes but everyone can score them.  The applications will appear on the website in advance of the event.

Roads Zone:  This pot of money can be spent on improvements across South Central.  The applications will appear on the website in advance of the event.

On the Big Day - Voice your Choice - Saturday, 30th April

(1)   When you arrive you will be asked to register - Simple check to confirm voters live in South Central.
(2)   You will then be handed three scoring sheets - one for each zone.   They will give details on each idea
(3)   You can then visit each zone and score each project on its own merits ie 1-5 basis.
(4)   Your forms are then deposited in a locked box (the ones they use for the elections)
(5)   The voting sheets will be collected throughout the day and counted
(6)   Winners announced.

In terms of the environmental improvements they will be listed in order of preference and our teams will work on these until the fund is exhausted.  All depends how much each idea costs.  We will announce the running order and throughout the coming year will let you know when the work has been completed.

You can only vote on the day - so please come along and Voice your Choice!
