The Edinburgh People's Survey
The Edinburgh People's Survey
The Edinburgh People's Survey (EPS) was introduced in 2010 to
provide one large comprehensive survey of Edinburghresidents. This
has replaced the previous Annual Neighbourhood Survey and the
Edinburgh Residents Survey.
Residents' perceptions of the City of Edinburgh Council
and its services
Each year the Council asks Edinburgh residents for their
opinions, needs and satisfaction with the city and their
neighbourhoods; what is the Council doing right, what needs to be
improved and what they think about the services provided.
This information is used widely across the Council to monitor
performance and shape services in order to address local needs and
priorities.
During Autumn 2010, a total of 5050 face-to-face interviews were
carried out with Edinburgh residents using in-street,
house-to-house and neighbourhood office surveys. Following the
survey, qualitative research, involving focus groups, was
undertaken to understand resident's perceptions and satisfaction in
more depth. For example, their current feelings towards local
public services, how they form their views of public services, what
factors influence these and how these have changed and are
changing.
The findings of this research will be communicated and discussed
with managers and partners. Improvement actions will be
developed based on the evidence and there will be customer feedback
on how services are being improved to address residents' needs,
concerns and priorities.
